As a kid, I told my parents I had previously lived a life on Jupiter. It started at an early age, and it stuck for years.
I’ve been looking back on that lately. Ultimately, if you reach back far enough, we all came from an explosion of cosmic gases. Maybe that was just my way of embracing that idea without really understanding it.
But I like the possibility that I was once a bunch of neon and silicon swirling in a mass of hydrogen clouds.
The sky made these sounds before we did.

These are small versions of big pieces. I reworked them in a very quiet bedroom in the middle of the night, to see if I could fit them into the space.
Three months sharing a small room, staying up in the dark and sifting through old tape recordings, thinking of home.
The flash was bright.
